Budget-Friendly Adventure: Masasa Beach, Tingloy, Batangas

Masasa Beach is one of the most affordable island getaways you can do from Manila, and it doesn't skimp on the view. Here's the exact breakdown we used, starting from the Makati area.

Getting There

  • Bus from Buendia terminal to Batangas — P167/person (2–3 hrs)
  • Jeep from Batangas terminal to Anilao — P37/person (under 1 hr)
  • Environmental fee — P30/person
  • Boat fare to Masasa — P100

Boats only operate from 6 AM to 6 PM, so plan your return trip around that window.

Where to Stay

We stayed at Salazar Transient Rest House — P350/night, good for 4–8 persons. You can reach them at 0921 986 2598 or 0917 203 3845. If you're up for it, pitching a tent right on the beach is also an option.

Activities

  • Island hopping — P300/person, includes snorkeling, diving gear, life vests, and goggles
  • Free: freestyle swimming and a quick stop at the lagoon

Tips

  • Buy food at the port before heading out — there are no restaurants on the beach itself
  • Bring reef shoes to protect your feet from the coral
  • Great either with a group or solo if you're after some peace and quiet

Total estimated cost: ~P947 per person, excluding food. Hard to beat for a weekend by the water.
